1368 Ouellette Facade
2019
Passa Architects was requested by the Owners of this 4 storey office building to develop a fresh new design to revise the exterior tired facade and create a more contemporary exterior facade that was simple and cost efficient to implement. The focus of interest was the extensive face of the building that was fronting onto Windsor’s main thoroughfare. The main floor of the building consists of sections of typical storefront glazing interrupted with columns or stretches of blank walls. The upper stories consist of curtain wall framing with rectangular sections of bands of glazed openings and spandrel panels. The dated exterior needed an attention gaining curb appeal upgrade. The resulting renovations included entirely new dark coloured aluminum framed storefront glazing sections replacing what was existing with a sleek new appearance. New stone cladding was applied on the exterior exposed walls on the ground floor and a new aluminum clad continuous canopy band was added across the entire width of the building in a contrasting copper hue. The curtain wall framing above remained due to budget considerations but was painted in a dark grey to match the framing below and the existing spandrels have been painted in an alternating copper, grey and white pattern. The remainder of the existing building facade has been painted in a clean, modern myriad of grey tones to culminate the refresh.
